Grades 4–6 are the upper stages of the STA Learn to Swim Programme, where children move from basic swimming ability to confident, efficient and technically strong swimmers.
At these levels, swimmers focus on:
⭐ Developing strong technique
They refine front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke, learning proper breathing, timing and body position.
⭐ Improving stamina and confidence
Children swim longer distances with good form and build strength, control and efficiency in the water.
⭐ Learning advanced skills
They begin skills such as dolphin leg (early butterfly), advanced streamlining, deeper-water confidence and key personal survival techniques.
⭐ Becoming safe, capable swimmers
By the end of Grade 6, children show maturity in their swimming, understand water safety, and are ready for more advanced programmes like Shark Awards, early squad development or school swim teams.
